We offer, in reverence for the late/great Klaus Nomi, Derf Backderf's homage to the otherworldly operatic performer. Nomi made a huge impact on Manhattan's East Village scene in the '70s and '80s with incredible costumes, theatrics and truly bizarre mash-ups of Classical opera and synth-laden pop songs. He performed with Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, David Bowie and more before becoming one of the first celebrity AIDS casualties.
If you haven't seen it, we strongly recommend watching "The Nomi Song" documentary to learn more about this fascinating & under-appreciated artist.
